Something is brewing in Lombok! A neighbourhood full of different people, talents and perspectives. What’s brewing in you?
Lombok is full of stories, ideas and creativity. We’re looking for people who would like to organise an event or activity at Stadsklooster Utrecht. A concert, community dinner, fashion show, exhibition, workshop, performance, film screening—or something completely different. As long as it has a clear connection to the neighbourhood.
Do you have a connection to Lombok? Maybe you live or work here, grew up here, visit often, or the neighbourhood means something special to you in another way. We’d love to hear your idea. Take your place and your stage at Stadsklooster Utrecht!
Who is this for?
This open call is for anyone with a good idea. Whether your idea is big or small, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to be a professional artist or an experienced organiser. We are looking for, for example:
- makers, musicians, performers and artists
- local residents with a special idea
- associations, foundations and collectives
- entrepreneurs or neighbourhood initiatives
- emerging talent as well as experienced professionals
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for activities that are connected to Lombok in their own unique way. For example, activities that:
- bring people from the neighbourhood together
- tell a story from or about the neighbourhood
- connect with a community in Lombok
- highlight a special place, history or tradition of the neighbourhood
- create new connections between residents, makers and visitors
Your activity may be aimed at local residents, but it can also appeal to visitors from elsewhere in Utrecht.
About Stadsklooster Utrecht:
Stadsklooster Utrecht is a social and cultural venue on Kanaalstraat, located in the former St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. It is a vibrant meeting place where creativity, culture and meaning can flourish in many different forms.
What do we offer?

You won’t have to do it alone. We’re happy to think along with you about both the content and organisation of your plan. We can support you with organising your activity, including marketing, planning, programming and artistic guidance.

Where possible, we also offer practical support. By arrangement, you can use Stadsklooster as a rehearsal space or meeting place at suitable times.

Based on the submitted ideas, we’ll also look for opportunities to connect different events or activities within the programme.
Financial
Stadsklooster Utrecht does not receive structural public funding, so our budget is limited. We make financial arrangements together for each selected activity:
- A modest artist’s fee for live performances, possibly depending on ticket sales.
- A modest reimbursement of expenses for exhibitions.
- Other types of compensation by mutual agreement.
- Please note: outside public events (for example during rehearsals or ongoing exhibitions), the main hall is not heated.
What do we look for?
When selecting activities, we consider:
- the connection with Lombok
- the quality and feasibility of the proposal
- the contribution to a diverse programme
- variety in disciplines, backgrounds and target audiences
Praktical information
The deadline for submitting your proposal is 6 September 2026. Please send us:
- a short description of your idea (maximum one A4 page), and
- optionally, a link to your portfolio, recent work, CV, website or social media.
